The project aims to show a new way of conceiving the urban block for the citizens in Belgorod, mixing functions and different architectural scales.
The idea is to create a space that is heterogeneous. The project perimeter relates to the urban scale but the inside part has a dimension of neighborhood, it is quiet and serene.
The physical and symbolic heart of the project is the great park that extends north-south dividing the lot into two parts.
In the middle of the park, away from the noise and from the street, we placed the kindergarden. Walking and cycling routes create a network in the lot and allow for instance visitors to reach the greenhouses.
The great city block is therefore divided into two smaller blocks and it is also interconnected by green axis and it is further fractionated to promote and symbolize the transition from the urban scale to the human scale. This process produces a disintegration and breakdown of volumes. On the outer perimeter of the block the buildings are compact and massive and they gradually become smaller, finally reaching the park with the smallest scale.
